Alternate Dimensions?

Tonight I read something strange that could really get your imagination going. It was just a simple meme, but I tend to overthink about the things that spark my creative side. It went something like this:

“What if there are multiple yous living in alternate dimensions and your dreams are you viewing what your other selves are doing.” (I’m not sure who said this. I only know it’s a meme somewhere.)

That really makes you wonder sometimes.

If by some totally random chance this is true, I don’t know if I should feel sorry or be completely jealous of my other mes. Some of them live crazy, exciting lives, while others are constantly fighting to get away from the bad guys. Of course, I’d be all over the me that has the super powers and saves the human race from total destruction. Then again, I wouldn’t mind being the bad guy who takes over the world. (Just kidding!)

I suppose it’s statements like this one that really works at my imagination and drives me to write even more. I live through my characters and let them do the risky events that keep them alive and most of the time there are a lot of bad guys chasing after them. In all honestly, I don’t think I’d last a day with the other mes in my head. I’d be on the ground, in the fetal position, waiting for it all to be over with.

I think I’ll stick with writing instead!

Publishing Eternity

Well, the time has come to set out with publishing Eternity. I began the arduous task of formatting this evening. I’m not sure exactly when the release date will be, but I’m hoping for later this year.

This is the first of two books, set in the future during not-so-great times. It has a hint of science fiction and time travel, but it’s mostly a thrill-ride that will keep you hooked until the very end.

More details will come a little later. I just wanted to give the world an update.

Stay classy out there!!

Done with Edits on Eternity!

Well, I think I finally finished the final draft of Eternity. I don’t know what it is, but every time I read it, it sucks me in and it’s hard to focus on editing rather than enjoying my work. But, I cracked down on myself and went line by line in vigorous editing until I feel that it is perfect. I’ve been sending out query letters the past few weeks (that explains why I haven’t been on for a while) plus I’ve started the untitled sequel.

I’m looking forward to my science fiction, suspenseful thriller to be out to the public one day.

Nightmares

They follow you

Like bats in the night

You can’t outrun them

You can never hide

They’ll be there waiting

Always waiting

For you to fall asleep

For your mind to finally be theirs

You can fight it all you want

Force your eyes to never close

Soon you’ll give in

And they’ll be there

They’ll play with you

Showing what you never want to see

Saying what you never want to hear

Until you beg for it to stop

Pleading for it all to be over

But your mind does not listen

Your eyes do not open

They cannot hear your cries

And you’re forced to see the images

So gruesome and bizarre

Your feet try to carry you away

Try taking you from the nightmares

But they follow you

They’ll always follow you.

Editing Eternity

While working on my other projects, I have been polishing one of my favorites by far, Eternity. This may sound conceded since I’m the author of this, but I swear I could read it one a thousand times over and never get tired of it. It’s my own work of art and I’m so enthralled with how it’s turned out. It’s got action, adventure, romance, murder, a hint of time travel, as well as some science fiction thrown in the mix. My main character, Calvin, is my favorite, of course. She really shouldn’t be since she’s not exactly a nice person throughout most of it. But, she means well and is only following her lifelong dream of getting the world to remember her name and adore her. What twenty-something year old girl doesn’t want that?

I’ve even taken the time to revamp my query letter on this one in order to start over fresh when sending to agents and publishers. Then will come the gut-wrenching time period of reading through rejection letters until I finally get the one that tells me what I want to hear. Of course, I never get my hopes up and I’ll never stop trying.

Anyway, that’s my rant for today. Time to get back to editing!

Fun with Photography!!

Since I have a knack for running during the warm months, I tend to take random pictures of things I find interesting or just plain cool looking. So, here are a few I had fun editing. I have a thing for eerie scenarios!

Enjoy!!

A New Inspiration!

Well my imaginary friends paid me a visit recently and have inspired me to start yet another project. I have the tendency to start writing about a half dozen stories and work on each one whenever I get the chance. I feel pretty good about each one too.

This new one is slightly different than the normal craziness I have been known to think of. It’s less of the zombie/vampire/crazy stalker genre and more of the coming of age type for young adults. I’ve only got about 3,000 words in and my intention is to not let this one fall into the pile of unfinished ideas that are stacking up on my computer. One day, maybe they’ll all be finished, but it takes time. As they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Back again!

I woke up this morning and realized that it’s been a long time since I’ve ranted about anything on my blog. I guess I’m struggling with things to say, not that there’s nothing on my mind, because there’s an insane amount of craziness going on up there. I just kept putting it off and putting it off until this very moment right now.

So, this year, I’m going to get back in the groove of things and write more. I’m going to take time each week and update the world on whatever the hell I’m working on. As of right now, I have a number of projects I’ve begun and a few that are finished. One of which is a young adult, dystopian thriller set in the future where the population dwindles above extinction. Just to give you all a taste of what that entails, let’s just say that repopulating the human race is of dire importance so the government goes to great lengths to make sure it survives. That means plucking healthy people of proper breeding age and thrusting them into a life where that is not only necessary but demanded upon by the founders of the facility.

I can’t give away too much, but I will tell you all that I have been sending out queries for this one I’ve titled The Facility. It’s part of a trilogy that I will soon be working on the sequels to.

So, that’s it for the night. My heartfelt rant in a nutshell. See you next time!

Eternity

As I’m sitting here listening to my favorite band, Fall Out Boy, I find myself going through some projects I’ve been working on. I have one that’s been finished for a couple months now entitled Eternity. I recently have been reaching out to literary agents with this one and have hit a crossroads. The rejections came back and I find myself moving on to a different novel. However, I can’t simply leave this one to collect dust on my desktop.

I have been contemplating self publishing Eternity for a little while now. I’ve done so in the past with four of my books, so I’m no stranger to the concept. I’ve been playing around with different covers and fonts and exactly what to put for the description on the back of the book. It gets me exciting just thinking about putting my work out there and I have worked so hard on this one. It was a labor of love though.

Eternity is part of a two book series, taking place in the future. It actually begins in one part of the future then gradually fasts forwards through a 300 year journey during the life of main character, Calvin Montague. She is rough around the edges with a heart and mind determined to rule the world. And, after given the tool to help her do so, she takes charge and transforms her country into something terrifyingly memorable.

I think I’ll leave it at that for now since I’m not exactly positive about self publishing this one just yet. This one is much different than my zombie/vampire trilogy known as The Human Race. I’m also going to publish it under a different author name, but I’m going to leave that a secret for now.

That’s it for tonight. Happy trails world!

Pirates of Hardwood

Chapter 32

Silence flooded the ship. Pirates stood in awe, their mouths agape and curiosity in their eyes. Instead of jumping into a rage-filled battle or fighting to kill the girl who pulled the trigger, they stayed at bay.

Blood pooled around the feet of the men standing closest to her body. All life has been drained from her face in a matter of seconds when the bullet crashed into her chest. She dropped with a thud to the wooden deck and no one came to her aide. Not a single one of her crew stepped up to check on her or even see if she was still alive.

As thunder boomed in the sky, the eyes of many turned to Sam. They lowered their weapons, sheathed whatever sword they carried. Flint quickly got to his feet and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth.

The gun fell from her fingertips. The only sound to echo amongst the ship. Sam slowly stepped backwards, her eyes wide open in fear of what just happened. She clenched her shaking hands to fists and crept backward until she bumped against the railing.

“I can’t believe she’s dead.” A raspy voice broke through the silence as a thin man knelt by Alyssa’s corpse. “The bitch is finally dead!” He shouted.

Cheers erupted from the dead captain’s crew. They jumped for joy and slapped each other on the back. Their cheers were soon joined by the rest of the pirates on the ship in a joyous outburst.

Flint limped toward Sam, his eyes were bloodshot and bruised. He got within a few feet of her before Darrick rushed to stand in his way. He didn’t have a weapon but would do whatever it took to protect her.

“You killed her.” Flint managed to say.

Sam nodded, “I didn’t mean to. I just wanted to stop her from killing you.”

“Why?” He asked.

“I don’t know.” Sam replied.

Flint nodded and glanced to each face belonging to his prisoners. Sarah and Rusty held each other by the life boat. Jonah waited by the pulleys, ready to lower the small vessel to their freedom.

Flint turned back to Sam and looked between her and Darrick. He saw the caring determination in his eyes and realized he no longer wanted to be in the way.

“Take the boat and go. The lightning won’t last for long and you’ll need it to get back to where you came from.” Flint ordered, then turned away and headed back to his men.
