“Anger?” Sally questions.
The beast nods, “I held it in too long.”
She stares at the window. The curtains billow in and out, snagging on the shards still stuck in the frame. Something bad happened in that room and she can see the pain from the incident on the creatures face. He tries to hide it, tries to cover the sadness in his heart, but his eyes let it show.
“You don’t need to be angry anymore.” Sally says, taking a small step closer to him. “You still have the chance to be happy.”
He shakes his head, “How?”
She smiles and touches the fur on his cheek. It’s been so long since he’s felt human contact, he almost forgot how it feels. Her soft skin gently caressing his face. The look in her eyes and the small smile on her lips. She’s not afraid of him. Perhaps the only human who isn’t. He lifts a paw and places it gently over her hand and allows the calm feeling to take over his heart.
“You won’t leave here?” he asks.
Sally shakes her head and says, “No. I want to stay here with you.”
She lowers her hand from his face and shrugs her shoulders, “I don’t know. There’s something about you that makes me want to know more. Makes me want to be here with you until you can be happy again. I’ll leave if you want me to, but just know that I want to stay here.”
He looks her over for a moment. Taking in her beautiful form. If he were normal again, she’d be the type of woman he’d look for. Sweet and caring with a big heart that can look past the flaws of man. He never wants her to leave.
“Stay.” He says, quietly.
She smiles, showing off her perfect white teeth.
