The Day The World Burns

I know it’s been awhile since I’ve posted and I do apologise for my absence. I’ve been busy working on the finishing touches to my science-fiction novel, The Day The World Burns. I am currently in the process of formatting it for print and Kindle versions so my beta readers will have something to read.

My plan is to have this published within the next couple of months. I’ll have a more firm date when the time gets closer.

It goes without saying that I’m pretty excited about this upcoming endeavor. I can’t wait to release my baby to the world!

Spare Parts

Good morning world! I’ve updated my series on Channillo. Chapter Six is now available for your reading enjoyment. Check it out if you enjoy a good, young adult dystopian with some science fiction thrown in the mix.

As I’m getting The Day The World Burns ready to publish, I realize that one of my good friends might be upset for the lives characters are forced to live. It’s the end of the world in an alien invasion; you can’t expect them to have to greatest time in the world! Plus, that’s how books–in my opinion–stay interesting.

Good morning world!

Chapter 4 of my Channillo series, Spare Parts, is now available for your reading pleasure.

I’ve been working on getting my science fiction novel, The Day The World Burns, ready for publication this year. My goal is to release it by the end of the year. I think I need to give myself a deadline so this will get done instead of me just saying it’ll get done. I have the cover art done and ready to use. The little blurb to go on the back of the book is also complete. I just need to finish the final draft and get it out to the world.

Procrastination is a problem. Distractions are a common occurrence. I feel like a deadline is the best option. I’ll shoot for mid-July to have this thing polished and have my proof ordered. Maybe by the end of August I’ll have my fifth book out for the world to enjoy!

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve made progress on any of my projects. I’m not sure why, but I was in a kind of slump for a while. I didn’t have the motivation to sit at my desk and write. I wouldn’t call it writer’s block, but more along the lines of not being in the mood.

Those things tend to happen.

As of late, I find myself getting to work on a new project. I’m four chapters and 6,000 words in. I don’t want to speak too soon, but it’s going good. I’m slowly coming out of my slump and getting my motivation back. Also, I’ve been getting work done on my science fiction novel, The Day The World Burns, in hopes to publish it later this year. Hopefully, soon, I’ll be able to order the proof for that one. I just need to find or create the perfect cover.

But, that’s my update for today. I need to do this more often!

It’s Tuesday night. My husband is working and I’m at home getting some editing done on The Day The World Burns. In a few weeks to a couple months, I’ll release my baby to the world for all to enjoy.

Can’t wait!!

The Glories of Writing

Good morning world!

I recently went back to an older project I almost forgot about. I wrote it two years ago and set it aside because I didn’t have the perfect ending for it at the time. I’m a little fuzzy about why I never went back to finish it, but I’m actually glad I didn’t. Going back to it now gave me the inspiration to come up with a great ending. I’ll have to change a few things to make it work, but it will all be for the best.

This new/old work in progress is closer to the science-fiction, action side of things–much like most of my projects. We’ll follow an eighteen year old girl as she’s kidnapped, forced to be an experiment in a madman’s demented plans, and it will all lead to an ending that will bring about a series. I obviously can’t give away too much since this one is so fresh.

Also, on a side note, I finally got on Twitter. After all these years, someone talked me into it. I use it solely for my writing and to connect with other authors. Feel free to follow me @TRJustus11 and have a great day!

Poem: Running Through a Daydream

I wake up in the morning,

Throw my hair in a bun.

I lace up my sneakers

And head out for a run.

I’m out of breath

By the end of the block.

Still I push myself harder,

Never checking the clock.

All this time I spend running

My daydreams take shape.

I go into a world

One I cannot escape.

There are monsters and demons,

Zombies and vampires too.

A red-headed stalker

With eyes oh-so blue.

There are heroes and good guys,

Someone there to save the day.

It wouldn’t be a fantasy

Without them out to play.

There are castles and oceans

And skies with bright stars.

I see chaos and beauty

And love hidden behind by bars.

All these things that I see

As I jog through the world

Are created by one thing;

My twisted mind unfurled.

I can run on forever

In the madness of my mind.

And keep going and going

Until the end of time.

But, alas, I cannot

For my breath has run short.

It is time to head home

And rest up from the sport.

I’ll start again tomorrow

With my dreams set on high.

I’ll see where they might take me

And always reach for the sky.
